Australia’s Climate

While the stereotype of Australian weather is hot and sunny, Australia is actually home to a wide range of climates. Lying in the southern hemisphere, Australian seasons are opposite to those in the northern  hemisphere. Summer is from December to February, Autumn from March to May, Winter from June to August and Spring from September to November. The Northern tropical region of Australia also has a wet season from November to April and a dry season between May and October. While the climate is considered generally temperate to sub-tropical in most seaboard locations, extreme temperatures are experienced in inland regions such as the Snowy Mountains during the winter months and in the desert areas of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland during the summer months.
